Ride~About: Autumn Color Along Tarryall Road

About an hour from home and 3,000 feet higher, is Tarryall Road which takes us to Tarryall Reservoir. I’ve wanted to travel this quiet back road for some time, but what better time than when autumn color is at peak! This is a new trip for us both. Let’s go.

It gets more and more beautiful . . .

Seasonal Reminder–The Cycle of Life

As the craziness of life keeps us running and striving and worrying, downright fearful, and more, it might be time to consider slowing down and looking around. Our natural world has a way of forcing it on us via seasons. Is it time you paid closer attention to the lessons? For me it was a waterfall in Glacier National Park that made me reflect on nature’ s reminders.

Come on along with me . . .

SNAP*Shot: Atlatl Rock

Near the western entrance of Valley of Fire State Park we find dark red Aztec sandstone. In the red rock nooks and crannies campsites are available and at this outcropping’s northern end is Atlatl Rock. Home to petroglyphs about 4,000 years old carved by unknown ancient tribes. Yes, these peoples lived sometime around 2,000 B.C. and we can only imagine their thoughts through their art. Let’s go!

Come on, this is amazing.

SNAP*Shot: Mountain Bluebirds

Hello friend! It was a wonderful trip spending time with Sandhill Cranes this March. However, there was another site I know you’ll enjoy as much as I did. What a surprise to spend time with a flock of Mountain Bluebirds (Sialia currucoides). You cannot miss them hunting in the grasses. They clearly do not blend in.

Look over there!
