*SNAP*Shots–Garden of the Gods On A 5-Degree Day

The last few days we’ve experienced arctic weather. Snow, below freezing temperatures overnight into the morning, single digits all day long. Brrrrr . . . OK, OK, I lived in Montana for seven years so should be fine with frigid. No, OVER IT, and enjoy the shorter winter season at this latitude too. One thing though? You can’t beat the beauty of ice- and snow-covered landscapes! Come on along as we drive the roads and visit the pull outs in Garden of the Gods, Colorado Springs gorgeous city park.

Bundle up and let’s go . . .

SNAP*Shot: Twin Lakes Autumn Splendor

We stayed in Twin Lakes last August hiking to the historic Inter-Laken resort. Although summer is beautiful, visiting Twin Lakes in autumn is not to be missed! The colorful aspen on the mountainsides, the golden willows and grasses along the lake, the snowfall on the mountaintops–what a view!

Look over there, the highest mountain in the Rocky Mountains . . .

SNAP*Shot: Delicate Arch

Delicate Arch is the most famous arch in Arches National Park. It is a symbol of Utah, appearing on their license plates and many brochures, and is also one of the most famous geologic features in the world. The light opening beneath Delicate Arch is 46 feet high and 32 feet wide, making it the largest free-standing arch in the park.

There are three possible hikes to see the arch. Let’s decide which trail we will take.

Decisions, decisions . . .

SNAP*Shot: Balanced Rock–Teetering Giant

Balanced Rock is a featured stop when driving in Arches National Park, and one of the few formations easily seen from the main park road. We are still quite a distance away, but come on along. You’ll be amazed as we get closer!

It is just ahead . . .
